Installation Instructions

Step 1: Plan Your Line Route

• Determine whether you’ll be running the steering lines through the hull or along the deck.
• Ensure tubing runs are smooth and free from sharp bends for optimal steering performance.

Step 2: Install the Nylon Tubing

• Cut tubing to desired lengths using a sharp utility knife or tubing cutter.
• Feed the tubing through your planned route.
• To ensure a snug fit, briefly warm the ends with a lighter and gently flare them—this helps secure them in place and prevents pull-through.

Step 3: Run the UHMWPE Cordage

• Thread the cordage through the tubing, ensuring both ends extend evenly from the steering connection points.
• Attach cordage to your rudder or foot-steering pedals following your kayak manufacturer’s recommendations.

Step 4: Secure and Finish

• Tie off securely using appropriate knots for your steering system.
• Use a lighter to carefully singe the cord ends after cutting to prevent fraying.
